Chapter 1
Why You Should Have a Vertical Garden
Y ou may have your own reasons for considering vertical gardening structures. As long as you have a solid reason then goes with it! You can also share it with others on Pinterest and other social media sites. Here are some of the most common reasons why people consider vertical gardening.
Limited Space
A lack of space for a horizontal garden can be frustrating. If you try to grow your items too close together they don’t have the space they need to grow to their full potential. Vertical gardening allows you to take it in another direction and that can make all the difference
You may not have money to move to a larger place right now. Yet not having a yard and not having a garden can make you feel like you live in a box. Vertical gardening can be a way for you to deal with your current circumstances and not be upset.
For some people, they have a large home and are considering selling it. Their children are gone, maybe their spouse is too. So they are all alone and it doesn’t make sense to have so much empty space. Yet they hold on to the home due to the garden area.
Yet once they learn about vertical gardening and they can do it just about anywhere, they are willing to relocate. They are ready to move into a smaller home or into an assisted living facility where they can still take part in such gardening activities that bring them so much joy.
Limited Time
You may be saying you just don’t have the time to tend to a large horizontal garden any more. There could be an abundance of weeds or problems with pests that have forced you to throw in the towel. Before you give up gardening completely, consider the vertical option. You can get great results with less time spent on the upkeep of the gardening.
It isn’t going to take you much time for the upkeep of your vertical garden. The most significant amount of time is early on. This is when you are picking the location and conducting research on what you will plant. The actual building of the structure takes time but it is also going to be quite a bit of fun. Planting isn’t as time consuming as you may think. The benefits of growing your own flowers, plants, and herbs though far outweigh the amount of time you spend with the gardening process. If you stay on top of weeding, that doesn’t take up too much time either. You will find you look forward to working in your garden as things progress.
Instead of spending time watching TV or surfing the internet, you will allocate your time in new directions. So don’t be too worried about how you will fit it into your schedule. Ask your family to help you too. A vertical garden can be a family project. It can result in plenty of bonding and smiles!
Limited Mobility
Due to age, health concerns, and other factors, some individuals face limited mobility.
